You may have seen my Blog Photography Hints & Tips post last week, that was something I enjoyed creating way more than I ever thought I would. It was just so fantastic and heart warming to receive all of the positive comments off everyone and knowing my advice may have actually helped others with their photography. 🙂
So then I thought I really do want to help the new bloggers out a little bit and give them some of my hints and tips I have picked up along the way when it comes to blogging in general.
- Don’t Compare Yourself
When you start blogging you will always come across other blogs that you think are better than yours. Yes, they might have a fantastic picture quality, or they will probably get a thousand more views than you.. just stop worrying about it! It’s YOUR blog that matters.
You need to remember the reason you started your blog and that wasn’t so you could just compare it to everyone else’s. These bloggers who get 1000+ views a day have probably been blogging for years now, this stuff doesn’t just happen over night it takes time, commitment and consistency. If you are not prepared for that than I really don’t think blogging is for you.
- Be Honest
When you are reviewing a Moisturiser or Mascara for example, be sure to give your HONEST opinion about it. If people are clicking on your blog because they want to read what you have to say then it has to be THE TRUTH. Don’t just post about something you think people want to see just so you can get a few more views, they are clicking on your blog because they like you and value your honesty and opinion. If you can’t be honest about the product you are reviewing your viewers will automatically see this and decide not to visit your blog again.
- Forget about Numbers
I would say this is probably the most important tip of them all.
FORGET ABOUT THE NUMBERS.
Personally I find it hard these days to know whether bloggers really enjoy what they do or it’s just so they can say “Yeah well I have this amount of followers” or “That post is no good because no one has viewed it”. Don’t get me wrong it is lovely to hit your milestones when it comes to blogging, but don’t let the numbers define what your blog is all about. You should be writing your posts and taking your photos because you enjoy it and it is something you are passionate about, not because you want a million views and to be seen by a massive company who are going to offer you a load of freebies. Trust me, it really doesn’t work like that.
You need to interact with other bloggers because it’s not all just going to fall into your lap one day. Start by getting your blog out there, publish your blog posts on social media networks, Twitter could be a great one to start with. You can’t just expect everyone to suddenly view your blog and leave a thousand comments, if there are blogs out there that you like then start following them, show them that you are interested or just leave a little comment telling them you like their content. It may only be something small but every blogger appreciates honesty and positive comments on their blog.
To get to know other bloggers you can also get involved with Twitter Chats, my all time favourite has to be the #GRLPOWR chat it is run by @GRLPOWRCHAT, they are an hour-long and they happen on a Tuesday 9pm, Thursday 8pm and Sunday 9pm. It is a great way to interact and I have met some absolutely lovely bloggers through doing so.
- & JUST HAVE FUN! 🙂
I have been blogging for almost 10 months now, I got my first follower after 4 months and I hit 100 followers after 9 months. See, these things really don’t happen overnight, but I enjoy what I do and I wouldn’t want to change my blogging journey for the world.
I just see it as a bonus when someone follows my blog because it’s great to know they are enjoying reading my content just as much as I am loving creating it. 🙂
Good Luck & Happy Blogging!
I hope you have the best day & be happy.
Lots of love, Xandra Rose 🙂
