REVIEW: BARRY M MATTE ME UP LIP KIT

I know I am extremely late to the Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit party and you’re probably so sick of seeing hundreds of reviews for them by now, however, I really wanted to review them for myself so here’s another blog post for you to sink your teeth into.

I purchased this certain one from Boots for £6.99 but I know that you can get them from Superdrug too. There are 3 different colour kits you can choose from and because nude lipsticks are just the best thing to ever grace this earth, I “surprisingly” went for the ‘Go To’ nude kit.

Wearing a matte liquid lip is a completely new experience for me, so I wanted to start off with something cheap and cheerful just in case and to be honest I have really mixed views about it.

Left Swatch: Lip Liner & Right Swatch: Liquid Lipstick

The lip liner is a gorgeous colour and I have no complaints, it’s just the liquid lipstick that has me umming and aahing a little bit. It might be because I have nothing to compare it too but within seconds of applying the lip paint it was instantly dry and my lips just felt weird, they had this horrible chalky texture and the colour had instantly absorbed into them. Oh and then when I smiled it was smeared across my teeth, so not my best look.

The product is described as “non-drying” which I completely disagree with because my lips felt nothing but dry and yes I know my liquid lip applying skills aren’t that great but it was my first time, so please don’t judge me. I do however think the colour is gorgeous and right up my street, so I was a bit gutted about that.

So overall the lip liner gets a 10, the colour of the liquid lip gets a 10 but I’m sorry to say everything else about it gets a 4/10 from me. I much prefer my moisturising matte lipsticks, so I think I’ll be sticking to my MAC Velvet Teddy for now.

I hope you have the best day & be happy.
Lots of love, Xandra Rose 🙂

This is the first review I have seen on these but to be honest every Barry M lipstick I have ever tried has been seriously dry and very disappointing. I rarely buy anything Barry M anymore even the nail polishes dry out too quickly I find. Loved the blog post though your pictures are gorgeous xxx

I love that this was the first review you read about the lipstick, that means to the world to me! Oh really that’s a shame, I have always loved the nail polishes. Thank you so much for reading and commenting, you really have made my day xx

Yeah, I feel like liquid lipsticks just aren’t that awesome… Massively awkward opinion right now haha. I just prefer being able to eat & reapply my lipstick whenever without it being gross! I’m all about a matte lip, just prefer a traditional lipstick. Though, liquid lipsticks do look amazing for photos soooo *shrugs*
    Love seeing honest reviews xx

I’ve been seeing so many people talking about how these turned out to be a disappointing product and it’s put me off trying them altogether – It’s a shame, really. Fab review lovely – thank you for being so honest!
