You may or may not have noticed I have been pretty absent from my blog this week, that’s because we decided to take a trip to Edinburgh starting from Monday and ending Friday. However, as it takes almost 6 hours for us to drive up there we thought we’d stop over in Windermere in the Lake District for the night and then continue our drive up there the next day.
The views in the Lake District are so breathtaking it was lucky we picked a lovely sunny day to venture up there, but before we went straight to Windermere we stopped off at Grasmere.
I had researched all about the world famous Grasmere Gingerbread and just knew straight away that we had to go and check it out, so after parking up we headed straight to the shop.
It is the smallest ‘shop’ I have ever been in, it was more like a counter than a shop but I was pleasantly surprised at just how busy it was. Straight away I thought this stuff must be good right? People were buying their gingerbread and eating it as soon as they were outside!
We can now honestly say as Grasmere Gingerbread tasters it is the best gingerbread we have ever eaten, it was just amazing. It was so good that we have already said we will be going back up at Christmas time to get some more and even pick some up as treats for others.
Oh and of course we stopped off at the local coffee shop in the village and had a coffee and hot chocolate before we headed off to find our bed for the night, it was yummy.
We stayed in Denehurst Guest House for the night which was right in the middle of the two towns Windermere and Bowness, so that was very handy and there was plenty to choose from when we wanted to go for dinner on the night-time. We had such a lovely time there.
I would highly recommend booking into the Denehurst Guest House in Windermere if you are ever venturing to the Lake District, the owners were so lovely and very accommodating. We have already said if we ever go there again it is the first place we will be booking to stay.
I hope you have the best day & be happy.
Lots of love, Xandra Rose 🙂
