So it happened, it actually happened… 18th November 2017 I ran my first ever 10k for charity and I still can’t quite believe it, I have to keep pinching myself (not literally tho) every 5 minutes!
I’m definitely not going to sit here and tell you all it was a piece of cake because I tell you what, it was far from it. It was hands down one of the hardest thing I have ever done but it was also one of the best things I have ever done and I’ve never felt more proud of myself in all my life.
There was a lot more hill running on the day than I had anticipated, I think this is what made it a lot harder for me but that was probably down to me trying to kid myself during training that there wouldn’t be that many hills in the park when I knew full well there would be quite a lot.
I knew whatever happened I was never going to give up and say I can’t do this… I’ll admit there were times (approximately around the 6k mark) that I physically wanted to throw up and stop but I just kept telling myself “you CAN do this!”, so there was no way I was going to stop.
There was so much motivation from everyone standing around the park with posters saying things like “you’re looking Motastic” and “feel the Molove”. Then there were others shouting things like “you’ve got this guys” and “just think you could be sitting at home but you’re not, you’re out doing something worth while”, which I actually found to be the biggest motivator.
As my own personal goal I wanted to complete the run in under an hour and a half, so you can imagine my excitement and how happy I was when I finished in 1 hour and 27 minutes!!!
Although it was hard, it has now given me more motivation to train even harder for the 2018 10k MoRun. I am so determined to be even better than I am today and finish in a much better time.
So here’s to next year, cheers!!!
I hope you have the best day & be happy.
Lots of love, Xandra Rose 🙂
